American Chemical Society: Student Chapter is an undergraduate organization devoted to the increase of knowledge and interest in the field of chemistry. Our organization works on volunteer projects which help the community; current projects involve assisting the Second Harvest FoodBank in boxing food for area families in need, judging science fairs for school children interested in the sciences, and participating in university activities that increase school pride. Last year we attended several ACS conferences with the intent getting our undergraduates involved in research and making useful contacts in the chemistry community. Further projects are always in development and ideas from new and returning members are encouraged. All our programs are meant to increase the college experience for students at YSU and to prepare undergraduates in the field of chemistry for successful careers. Majors involving chemistry such as pre-medical, pre-pharmacy, chemical engineering, forensics and biology and so on are welcome to join. Group social events are also a main staple of our organization, providing people of similar majors to meet and discuss topics of interest. |
