The deadline is Monday, April 30, 2007. You are eligible to submit a paper if you are a major or minor in either discipline, and you were enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in fall 2006 or spring 2007.<br /><br />Rules:<br />1. The paper should be typed, double-spaced, stapled, and not exceed 5,000 words.<br />2. The paper should have a cover page with your name and the title of your paper. Your name should not appear on any other page because there will be a blind review of the submissions by the jury. At the time of submission, your paper will be assigned a number by Mrs. Joan Bevan, department administrative assistant, which will be used to track it.<br />3. The paper may be on any topic in philosophy or religious studies.<br />4. You may submit no more than one paper.<br />5. Footnotes should be placed at the end of the paper.<br />6. You must submit your paper to Mrs. Joan Bevan in DeBartolo 401 no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2007. You may submit it in person, via e-mail (jbevan@ysu.edu) or U.S. mail (Essay Contest, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Youngstown State University, One University Plaza, Youngstown, OH 44555).<br />7. Papers will be judged on the basis of knowledge of the topic, clear and persuasive writing, accurate and fair analysis of theories, doctrines, claims, and arguments, and success in shaping a coherent, justified stance.<br />8. Submissions may be new papers, revised or unrevised old papers, including non-winning papers submitted for a previous essay contest or a course at YSU, or papers done for a senior capstone project.<br />9. This new medium, building for the past few years, is about to reach a white hot growth curve. For the last 5 years, Alex Lindsay and the Pixel Corps have been experimenting with online video and now produce over 15 shows for 4 online networks. <br /><br />Part 1: Alex will talk about what's working and not working in the market, who's buying content and why, budgets, and production processes. He will also talk about some of the exciting developments in prosumer cameras and how to get the most out them.<br /><br />Part 2: Designing a Business with both Business and People considered - Alex Lindsay will talk about the design of the Pixel Corps, a Guild of Content Creators and how creating a company that both makes money and makes a difference is not only possible but preferable.<br /><br />When: Monday, April 9, 2007<br /><br />Where: Jones Room, 2nd Floor Kilcawley Center<br /><br />Time: 12 Noon &ndash; 1 PM<br /> <br />Alex Lindsay has been involved in computer graphics for nearly 20 years. Alex has taught at the Academy of Art and at the San Francisco State Multimedia Studies Programs.
