Hockey - The greatest sport there is! Being a true Canadian, this should come as no surprise to anyone. Hockey should be on ice, three periods, and no (repeat NO) `Fox puck' (which, by the way, is ample proof that some people have far too much spare time). The fine city of Hamilton, Ontario should have an NHL team, but until the pinstripes (pinheads?) at the NHL head office figure out who is actually watching the game, it will likely never happen.Pat - goalie picture

Of course, I need to put in a couple of photos of me playing hockey (circa 1997); normally I play forward, but enjoy playing goalie when possible! Thanks to Glen Petitpas who loaned me most of the cool equipment (actually, he took the photos too, and then proceeded to score a pair of goals on me in rather short order...)

CBC Sports -- Hockey Night in Canada (by far the best hockey telecasts)
The NHL home page
ESPN Hockey page -- good for scores and news

Music - I am a big fan of progressive rock music. Yes, I know that is not in fashion, but I grew weary of all of the dancy-alterno-grunge-hiphop stuff (as well as country AND western music) more than 15 years ago when it was already getting pretty stale. (IMPORTANT NOTE : if you are easily offended by drum or bass solos, time changes, and songs longer than 4 minutes, doctors do not recommend going any further...) Here are just some of the bands and musicians I listen to :

RUSH - the Canadian power trio of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart - there are no equals!
YES - the `classic' progressive band from the 70's, and still going strong!
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - more great music from the 70's; I fully admit I cannot get enough of Keith Emerson beating the snot out of his keyboards...
the Fixx - one of the truly great bands from the 80's (still producing great music today!)
Dream Theater - great `progressive metal'. Good to hear a newer band not scared to do time changes, and long pieces of music, etc, for a change...
Midnight Oil - powerful (musically and lyrically) Australian rock
Marillion - I have to admit that I prefer the older Fish-era music from this band (< 1988). Some great music!
Peter Gabriel - incredible musician!
Bruce Cockburn
- tremendous songwriter
Spirit of the West
- more great Canadian music
Rupert Hine
- creative producer, and a great musician himself
Cairo - great keyboard-driven progressive rock

Chinchillas - (yes, we have chinchillas)

Canadiana Cdn. flag(to get your fix on things from the Great White North!)

The CF-105 Avro Arrow - a beautiful aircraft cut down far too soon. Humour
